Team with a pair of skinny jeans or slip it on over a vintage-inspired dress to add the perfect finishing touch to your outfit! The 1960’s Coat is easy-to-wear, versatile number which complements any outfit and is a must-sew for Autumn/Winter.

Stay snug by securing the buttons down the front, and choose to cover yours in matching fabric or make a statement with a contrasting pop of colour. The timeless design offers a sleek ‘60s shape and with a neat pointed collar, slick centre back seam and adjustable length – this one’s a keeper!

Sewing Level
The 1960’s Coat is an Intermediate sewing pattern.

Fabric Suggestions
For the 1960’s Coat we recommend a medium to heavyweight fabric such as tweed, boucle, melton, jacquard and boiled wool. If you are new to sewing coats we recommend avoiding fabrics with a very loose weave (such as boucle) as these fray easily and can make your sewing more tricky.

The 1960’s Coat is fully-lined, so you will also need lining fabric such as acetate, crepe or polyester, as well as tailoring interfacing, two 10cm x 23cm pieces of ice wool wadding and 6-8 x 2.5cm wide buttons. You will also need an additional 2.5cm wide jigger button, ensuring this is fairly flat as it will be on the inside of the coat. It’s up to you whether you add the eye-catching shoulder pads to accentuate the ’60s silhouette.

Sizing & Fabric Requirements
The 1960’s Coat sewing pattern is sized between UK sizes 6-30. The pattern is split into two different blocks: sizes 6-20 (B Cup), and sizes 18-30 (D Cup).

Order the paper pattern to receive a printed paper version of the pattern (size 6-20) in the post. Order the PDF pattern to receive a digital version of the pattern (size 6-30) as an instant download. Select the copyshop add-on  to receive printed A0 sheets through the post (either 6-20 or 18-30) in addition to the PDF pattern.

See the chart for details on fabric requirements.

Like all our patterns, the sizes are nested to make it easier to grade between the sizes, depending on your measurements.
